John also worked as a songwriter, arranger and producer for independent artists which eventually led him into film and television scoring. Upon hearing a collection of this music in 1995, veteran composer John Debney invited John to work with him on Fox TV's movie of the week, "Dr. Who". This began a long collaboration with Debney on many subsequent feature films including, Spy Kids 1 & 2, Inspector Gadget, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, The Tuxedo, The Replacements, Cats & Dogs, and the promo for The Passion of the Christ.
As part of Hans Zimmer's Remote Control Productions in Santa Monica, John has composed music for some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbuster films, including: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Despicable Me, and Rango. In addition to maintaining a highly successful music library and contributing to major Hollywood movies, John has also scored a number of “faith based” independent projects. Of special note is the award winning Final Solution directed by Cris Krusen. In 2014 John collaborated again with Cris and composed and arranged the music for foreign independent film Sabina K. John also worked on a beautifully animated biblical teaching series called Theo Presents created and produced by Mike Joens.

Tom found his way onto the piano bench and learned his favorite song by ear at the age of 4, he fell in love. Growing up in the Seattle area, Tom worked as a pianist in settings as diverse as concert halls, jazz clubs, and musical theaters, all the while dreaming of being a jazz recording artist. In 1986, he moved to Los Angeles to attend Pepperdine University on a music scholarship but soon realized that his passion was to play, arrange, and create music rather than study it. He spent the next five years traveling the globe as the Musical Director for Princess Cruises. Tom met his beautiful musician wife Dianne while working on “The Love Boat” and they married and moved the show back to LA. The next decade became about playing gigs, raising kids, and honing his production skills doing remix and karaoke tracks.
Through a mutual friend, Tom met John Sponsler. This meeting would lead to the birth of Magic Box Music (their mutual production company) and eventually together they formed Brand X Music. John allowed Tom an opportunity to learn, work, and grow, and in so doing, the two forged a friendship and partnership that has spanned over 15 years.
During their years working for Hans Zimmer via Remote Control Productions in Santa Monica the two created music for major films including: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Despicable Me, and Rango. They assisted John Debney on scores ranging from Inspector Gadget to Jimmy Neutron and Tom was even a featured pianist on Mr. Debney’s scores for Michael Jordan to the Max and The Emperor's New Groove. Tom's career has also allowed him to work with some of his musical heroes including John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and Trevor Rabin.
Tom is the father of two great kids, enjoys cooking, scuba diving, and home roasting coffee beans. He and his wife share a passion for dogs, Disneyland and Hawaii, and feel amazingly blessed to be living out their wildest dreams.
